When I woke up on 9/11/2001, I could just feel something was not right in the world. When I turned on the TV, I saw exactly why I felt that way, and became filled with grief and disbelief as millions of others did. About an hour later this song came to me spontaneously. And when I read back the lyrics, I know it was something that needed to be shared with everyone.
Lyrics
Woke up to a silent screen
Of scattered hopes and shattered dreams
And the absence of humanity
Never seen such pain before
An act of hate, an act of war
We can't afford this anymore
Don't turn on your brother now
Don't turn on your sister now
No one needs another more than now.
I can barely comprehend
The loss of family and of friends
I pray their broken hearts will mend
And now that it has come to this
Don't feed the fear, we must resist
There's still a place where love exists
Don't turn on your brother now
Don't turn on your sister now
No one needs another more than now
